Harsud was a town and municipality in Khandwa in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Although the town was more than 700 years old, it was submerged under the waters of the Indira Sagar dam in July 2004.
During that time, Dr. Chatterji and Mr. Mander attended 7 public hearings across Khandwa district, in Bangarda, Barud, Bhavarali, Chanera, Harsud, Kala Patha and Purni. The public hearings were organized by local people, independent organizations and the Narmada Bachao Andolan (Save the Narmada Movement).
