A schoolboy reports on his hero: Hachiko, his grandfather's dog. In a flashback, a puppy at a Japanese monastery is crated and sent to the US.

I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and think about Parker. He was a good friend. I understand how you feel. Hachi, my friend, Parker is never coming home. But if Hachiko wants to wait, then Hachiko should wait. You want to wait for him, don't you? Have a long life, Hachi.

Hachiko Monogatari is the version closer to the true tale in most ways and you know the ending is going to be painful to watch but you watch it to the end anyway. This film also peeks into the culture at the time in Japan.

Hachiko: Directed by Ang Xu. With Jugang Bai, Joan Chen, Xiaogang Feng, Eponine Huang. The touching story about a loyal dog who waited for the return of his owner in front of a train station for ten years, even after his owner's death.

This film is very, very moving and sad, like no other I've ever seen. It tells the (real) story of Hachi, the dog that waited 10 long years for his owner after his death. Hachi kept waiting for him for the rest of his life and only didn't wait more because he died.

"Hachiko" is a Chinese remake of the Japanese film "Hachiko Monogatari". Directed by Xu Ang and starring Xiaogang Feng and Joan Chen, it recounts the timeless story of a dog's loyalty to his owner in a manner befitting to the country in question that tells it.

While "Journey" is also a rollercoaster ride of life's ups and downs, the overall effect by film's end is exhilaration and joy--and hope. I highly recommend throwing yourself into this particular journey.
