2023年3月5日 · I had an agitator washer for most of my homeownership tenure. Got a new impeller washer a few years ago. Next time I need a washer, I will choose an agitator. Both do an equal job of cleaning clothes. But the impeller has a harder time keeping the load balanced for spinning, especially when there’s a large item like a blanket.

They are gentler on the fabric compared to agitator, although not to the same extent as front-load machines. You might also find clothes tangled or the wash tub imbalanced more often with an impeller model.

2022年12月2日 · Direct drive impeller models offer more range of motion. (Stay away from belt driven impeller models, you run into the jerky limited movement, just like the agitator. They are not effective unless you always use the Deep Fill option, and defeat the purpose of water and energy savings.) Anyway, the direct drive impeller does full rotations.

2023年2月19日 · Impeller doesn’t fill with water..they’re strictly for saving water and efficiency. They do make a smaller front load but I’m sure you need the bigger drum. You’ll get get some speed queen recommendations here..depending on your budget I’d get a pretty basic 4.5 cu ft top load with agitator.

2022年5月18日 · I just bought a new Maytag top loader with the agitator yesterday and I have a few concerns.. Wondering if you have noticed the same. The agitator is pretty aggressive on the clothes before the water level has even filled up more than a couple inches. This makes me feel very hesitant to put anything I care about into it.

2024年3月28日 · I love my Maytag with an impeller. It requires you to use the correct wash settings, but with an appropriate amount of water, the impeller simulates an agitator with a vortex. There are also removable agitator models, if you want the best of both worlds.

Was consulting my mom (as one does as a first time homeowner in their 20s) and she is heavily pro-agitator but I’ve been reading a lot online about how impellers and agitators are about as effective at cleaning but impellers are more gentle on clothes.

However, a sales rep told us that clothes washed in top-load machines tend to hold more water because the drum can't spin as fast as a front-load. Therefore, they end up taking longer to dry.
