Jaigarh Fort was a centre of artillery production for the Rajputs. It is now home to the Jaivana – at the time of its manufacture in 1720, it was the world's largest cannon on wheels of the Early Modern Era. [1] The foundry where it was manufactured is also located here.

A fort with bespoke architecture, Jaigarh Fort in Jaipur, is a mark of semblance of the great Rajput rulers. Literally meaning the ‘Victory Fort’, it was built to protect Amer Fort and its huge palace complex from enemies of the state.

The fort of Jaigarh was built by King Jai Singh II in 1726 as a defensive fort, to guard the city of Jaipur as well as the primarily ornamental fort of Amber/Amer next door. Jaigarh’s main claim to fame today is the massive cannon known as Jaivaan, which was cast in the fort’s cannon foundry.
