In Windows 10, Tablet mode is a separate feature and can be turned on at the customer's discretion. So you can turn on tablet mode even if you're connected to the Type Cover.

If you do not want to go that route, install Google Chrome web browser and within "IT", it has a store of its own which are modified Android apps from Google. They have a lot of apps for it. The browser acts as a runtime engine for those apps and only play through that browser.
