2020年10月4日 · I haven't played a Shadow Magic sorcerer either but here are my two cents. I would pick a race that doesn't naturally have darkvision. Of those the best options seem to be changeling, variant human, and lightfoot halfling. For spell selection, hold person and hold monster seem to have good synergy with Hound of Ill Omen.

It fit the story I am trying to tell, and it also gave the character a very Roguish feel. Considering my character's party does not have a Rogue, this has ended to be to our advantage.
