An Act to prescribe punishment for the 1[preaching and practice of - "Untouchability"] for the enforcement of any disability arising there from for matters connected there with. Be it enacted by Parliament in the Sixth Year of the Republic of India as follows:

Untouchability is a form of social institution that legitimises and enforces practices that are discriminatory, humiliating, exclusionary and exploitative against people belonging to certain social groups.
