Yorkshire Tea is grown in more than 20 different places across Africa and India, then imported to Harrogate and blended – so why is it called 'Yorkshire Tea'? If you drank one of those 20 teas on its own, it would typically be described in terms of its origin – Assam tea, for example, or Rwandan tea, Kenyan tea and so on.

Yorkshire Tea is the most famous tea that we make, but look around on the tea shelves and you’ll find a whole host of teas and infusions created by the same people who make your favourite brew, from speciality black teas to green teas, and fruit and herbal infusions.

What is tea? 130 years ago, our founders fell in love with a brilliant little bush that just happens to grow the tastiest drink in the world. The tea bush. All tea comes from one type of bush, called Camellia Sinensis. It can grow wherever the climate is right, but the tea we’re interested in is mainly grown in Assam and East Africa.
